When the National Weather Association comes to Garden Grove, California for their 42nd Annual Meeting in September, the focus will be on learning. The fun will be doubled on Saturday, September 16th, when the festivities will kick off with a free event open to the public.
WeatherReady Fest provides an opportunity for kids and adults alike to experience weather first-hand and learn how to prepare for nature's worst disasters. Everyone will love playing games, hearing from experts, and seeing vehicles and equipment used by emergency managers and weather broadcasters. There is something for everyone, including:
- Over 50 exhibitors
- Hands-on activities like NOAA's Young Meteorologist Program
- Fun games for learning
- Owlie Skywarn
- OU WeatherFriends
- Jim Cantore from The Weather Channel
- And much more!
In 2016, WeatherReady Fest drew over 3,500 kids, parents, grandparents, couples, and individuals to the Nauticus Naval Museum in Norfolk, Virginia. Due to the anticipated crowd size, admission is offered with free timed tickets available online. More information can be found here.
